!~Amigurumi~!

These cute little creatures are everywhere! Featured in the Spring 2006 Issue of Knit.1 (page 18), the Spring 2006 issue of Crochet Me and all over the internet. They are Amigurumi!

What are these creatures and what on earth does Amigurumi mean?

Amigurumi is Japanese that means 'knit and wrap' (mk carroll). Most people seem to agree that these little stuffed crocheted dolls are adorable and one can not resist them!

There are some people into Japanese Crafting and I am sure they already are familiar with these cure creatures. They come in an assortment from little bears to large dolls complete with clothes and accessories. To put it simply they come in any shape you can image and with any fun accessory that you can create yourself or purchase for them. Just look at this inventive bunny by Vonvonz:

Amigurumi are wonderful for beginners and advance crocheters alike. The reason being one only has to use the simple single crochet stitch. The crocheter can choose to work in a spiral or crochet in the round. Either way there are endless possiblities.

I have hunted all over the web to find some great resources including links for inspiration and some how-to's.

Discover these cute creatures and enjoy!
